Change and the Death of the Chocolate Santa Claus

The chocolate Santa Claus first poked his head out of my stocking in 1965. All you could see was that shiny, silvery red head just above those glinty Santa eyes. Hes appeared in my stocking every year since then. Thats 48 years of Santa heads peering out at me. There wont be one there this year. My family informed me that it is a waste of time, we already have too many sweets around the house during the holidays that are a lot better. (I am willing to concede the second half of this argument but, REALLY, I did not know there was such a thing... Read More

Today is a day that we honor the men and women who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces. I'm sure you can think of a few people off the top of your head that you should (if you haven't already) send a quick note to, thanking them for their service. If my grandfather were still here today, I would have called him to thank him, but also to hear some of his great stories. Burt served in the Navy as an electrician from 1951-1955. Back when [somehow] it was possible to pay someone to pass your swimming test. Yes, you read that right. He... Read More

Go Vote HR

By: Jerry Thurber Tuesday November 4, 2014 comments

We are all sick and tired of the political advertisements, the robo-calls (thats one technology I wish theyd zap with a ray-gun), the mud-slinging and the unseemly pandering. But at the end of the day none of that matters what matters is that we make democracy work by exercising our personal responsibility to: GO VOTE I saw a great political cartoon in the local paper today (I live in Fort Collins, Colorado so LOCAL really means local. I think the vote for Homecoming King got equal billing this morning) but anyway the... Read More

Sourcing = Trick or Treating

When you were younger, likely you joined the rest of the neighborhood kids by trick-or-treating on Halloween. Once you got a bit older, you knew which houses had the best candy, and which ones handed out FULL-SIZED CANDY BARS , and then those that handed out toothbrushes in lieu of candy. However, in all my memories of trick-or-treating, I still went to every housebecause, even though I knew that certain houses were known to hand out toothbrushes, I loved looking at the great mixture that I had accumulated at the end of the night. ... Happy 1st Day of Air Conditioning Wars!

Tomorrow marks the official First Day of Summer, which if you work in an office , means you're about to be (if you weren't already) uncomfortable with your office temperature. What's your ideal temperature for working ? I bet your ideal is different from your co-worker's ideal. "The majority of research has shown an optimal office temperature between 70 and 73 degrees Fahrenheit (21 to 23 degrees Celsius) provides the best air temperature for maximum office worker productivity. However, a well respected study by Cornell University... Read More

By: Casey Siewert Tuesday April 29, 2014 comments

I realize Mother's Day isn't until Sunday, May 11th, but I wanted to make sure that you had plenty of time to plan something extra special for a special mother in your life. By now you've probably seen this viral video from on the World's Toughest Job : I suppose we should have prefaced that by saying, "If you haven't seen this, be prepared to cry a little bit." Everyone knows a wonderful  Boo-Boo Fixer, Fort Engineer, or Household CFO . These are, in fact, some of the world's toughest jobs, and are even... Read More

I'd Hire Peyton Manning

By: Casey Siewert Friday January 31, 2014 comments

Superbowl XLVIII (or Superbowl 48 for those that hate Roman Numerals) is this weekend, and I would be lying if I said we'd be indifferent to who the winner will be. We live in Broncos Country here in Colorado, and we're pretty excited about the game this weekend. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know: enough about Peyton Manning. Sorry I'm not sorry. I urge you, if you don't want to hear anymore about him, don't read past this sentence. However, if you are Peyton fans like we are, we hope you'll enjoy this fun post. I can't speak for everyone here... Read More
